Having done several cruises in the Caribbean, my husband desperately wanted to visit the ABC-islands with Princess Cruises. Since they could not confirm a fixed stateroom for a back-to-back cruise, we ended up choosing Oceania cruises for the first time.

We usually book our vacation one year ahead. Needless to say we were excited, after seeing all the videos and information on the internet, to be finally there.

We boarded at Miami without any hassle. No cues, waiting lines, whatsoever. Just handed over our passports & credit card and 5 minutes later we were on the ship.

The sirena is beautifully appointed, and had just be refurbished. We found the ship small, luxurious and easy to find everything you needed.

The main dining room, the buffet, the speciality restaurants, high tea, all delivered delicious food, whenever you wanted with a large choice to choose from. After having dined at the main dining room several nights, we found the buffet easier since they offered the same food as the main dining room but offered you the possibility to choose from all dishes and sample a range of food. Drinks were brought to the table as soon as you sat down. No complaints there.

Giving the fact the ship is rather small, the amount of staff aboard, we found the service level very high in comparison to other cruise lines we had done before (MSC, Princess, NCL, Carnival). All staff members we spoke to, were friendly and efficient. We enrolled for bridge classes and both Sheryl and her husband learned us a lot. One evening we even spent dining together in the restaurant sharing stories and having lots of fun.

We booked an inside cabin and were appointed room 4035 on deck 4. Since this is the handicapped room, the bathroom & room was huge. Plenty of storage (whole wall). Quiet, Near the stairs and elevator to go up for breakfast in the morning. Noticing other balcony rooms, we certainly got more value for our money.

Some weeks before departure we were informed that we would not visit Antigua and were to go to Dominica instead.

Shortly after having sailed, there were mechanical difficulties and the ships engines stopped. Although the problem was fixed rather quickly, the captain announced that the stop in Aruba was cancelled. Probably the most interesting port in the whole cruise. A couple of days later we were late in Granada (evening instead of early afternoon). On disembarkation day we arrived at noon instead of 7AM. Wonder if this has anything to do with the mechanical problems… or was it indeed the winds?

Being on holiday after 11 months of work, we made the best of it and has loads of fun despite these minor hick-ups.

In sum we were quite pleased with the sirena, but would choose an itinerary where the ship does not have to sail enormous bodies of water and certainly reach every port of call.

Cabin Review

Rectangular shaped room (disabled) on deck 4 near reception, medical center.

Left side in the middle of the room stood a large, comfortable bed with nightstand on each side.

Immediately to the left, next to the entry door stood a desk with ample sockets and storage space.

Upon entering the door, in front of you, an entire wall with storage space.

To the right the huge ballroom bathroom. The open shower was so large you could easily shower with two persons at the same time. Ample space around, large vanity, toilet, ... everything you needed.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Having slept in the Marriott the night before, we found the trolley bus easy to get around. To and from the cruise terminal to the airport, hotel, ...

Having booked our cruise a year before, we printed some interesting walking tours from the net. Easy to visit by yourselves.

River tubing was a fun, exciting activity. Loads of fun with our group. Drink and piece of fresh fruit to end a sunny day.

Having booked the cruise a year ago, we found all interesting tourist spots on the internet and walked there ourselves. Easy to visit yourselves without excursion.

St. Lucia

Like most islands in the area, beautifull weather, easy to walk around and breathe the atmosphere and learn about locals.

port of call was cancelled and went to Dominica instead.

St. Barts

Feels like the côte d'azur, monaco. Splendid views from the fort over the harbour. Luxurious shopping streets. Great vibe.
