Sail Date: May 2010

After this ship has sailed the Med for approx 6 weeks, you would think that Thomson would give up and get it put into DRY DOCK for repair. In my opinion this ship, had it entered a British port and not Palma Majorca, would not be sailing with passengers with all the problems that clients have had to endure during their holiday.

I have cruised 10 times including Ocean Village (when it first came into service), P&0, Celebrity and twice before with Thomson on The Celebration and The Emerald. What most people don't realise is that they are all comparable in price! Thomson cruising is NOT, as many who enjoy cruise holidays believe, A CHEAP OPTION.

Therefore, I can only sympathise with those, who have suffered the ruination of a hard earned holiday. Just like others, on embarkation the odour of raw sewage was nauseating. This continued for the whole 7 days in corridors, some cabins (thankfully not mine) and even permeated the eating areas on Decks 4, 9 and 11. Furthermore, every day I had to report that the toilet in my cabin was not working, more than once. This then took hours to rectify, especially when on 1 day toilets were not flushing on Decks, 5,6 and 7. Some toilets overflowed in cabins and I found myself paddling in god knows what on the toilet floor outside the theatre on Deck 8. I was informed by Thomson management on board that the engineers said that there was no health hazard, to which I replied, " Does he also hold a degree in microbiology?" It can't have been anything but a health hazard!... especially when my husband realised he was standing in not only his own urine, but that of others, as the urinal was not attached to the piping on Deck 11, which he immediately reported.

Cabin Review

5068 - Good sized cabin, plenty of wardrobe and door space. Dated bathroom - watch for toilet never flushing.
