My journey aboard the magnificent Golden Princess began in Saint Louis, and included a one-night stay in Seattle. I was traveling with my cousin Linda and her husband and meeting friends on board. The flight was uneventful (a good thing when flying) and after a Bloody Mary, we arrived in Seattle and walked a short distance through the airport to find the newly opened section of the Link (light rail). We took the Link to the University Street Station for only $2.50 and walked downhill a block to our hotel.
We stayed at the Inn at Harbor Steps, for only $125.00 a night. This included wine, cheese, crackers, and veggie happy hour, in-room fireplaces, free internet, fresh baked cookies, a newspaper, plush robes, and a lovely breakfast in the morning.
We explored Pikes Street Market, visiting the first Starbucks on earth (bought coffee), and Pike and Western Wine Shop (bought wine to bring aboard). The market is awesome, and I wish I'd bought the beautiful flowers to also bring aboard (only $5.00).
My cabin was not very obstructed, just a piece of metal in front of the window. Sometimes people were working outside my window (scared me once). My room was great thought. Huge closet, hot shower, nice steward, comfortable bed. I had asked for an egg-crate on my mattress and my bed was very comfy and I slept like a baby. I loved the television and watched the bridge-cam on channel 45, with its' new age music, and lovely views. I also enjoyed the first run movies in the room, and being pampered by my steward with robes, ice, wine glasses, and more. I was expecting the room to be smaller and was surprised it wasn't, and that the closet had so many hangers, and room for all my stuff. Both my suitcases fit under the bed, and I was happy in my "atseahome" all week.
