We chose this cruise for price and to experience Celebrity. In addition, Qsine (a specialty restaurant featuring "Le Petit Chef") was a major draw. Qsine -the specialty restaurant - was absolutely fantastic and highly recommended.
The Oceanview Cafe buffet was decent, with some hits and some misses, but the quality of the food was high and enjoyable. Service there and in the main dining room was decent, but frankly was better in the buffet, overall.
WiFi was outrageously priced and exceptionally poor - we were lucky to get 2G service at best. Yes, it was the basic plan, but it was circa 2004 quality, not circa 2020. Celebrity needs to get with it and improve it, seriously. It's definitely a strong reason I won't go on another Celebrity cruise anytime soon.
Very few enrichment activities compared with other cruises I've been on - our cruise director, Lauren, was rarely seen outside of nightly theatre shows. A bit disappointing. More enrichment activities were needed, and more fun and exciting activities were called for. Maybe that's not Celebrity's niche, but they should consider it.
At 59 yrs old, I've sailed twice with Holland and believe Celebrity's "personality" is about as "geriatric" as that seen on Holland - and that was a bit surprising, honestly, as I'd expected more enjoyment. The high point was that the casino was non-smoking in its entirety - but the slots were notoriously "tight" - they made sure the house won with likely only a 50% payout- blackjack and poker were much more "fair" to the gamblers amongst us.
The buffet was never over-crowded; we got on the vessel on embarkation day expecting a horrific experience trying to find a seat- never had a problem despite a capacity crowd. Very nice. Being able to drop off our bags inside our room at noon (!) was a nice perk and very much appreciated!
Entertainment was top notch, frankly - so I'll definitely give kudos to Celebrity.
Overall - it was a "meh" cruise. I'd feel "ok" on Celebrity again, but I'll likely choose RCCL or NCL instead, as their was more energy seen in the staff and they seem happier on the other lines.
Firstly- the cabin was well-laid out, with a fantastic, large sofa and a very comfortable bathroom. Lots of storage was available, and we didn't lack for entertainment with multiple free (and recent) movies to choose from.
The TV was on a swivel, and the mini-bar was well-stocked. The bed, however, was sub-par, and very uncomfortable. Definitely needed a new mattress! The digital room key worked well, and our cabin steward, Carmen, was fantastic.
no excursions here
we rented mopeds instead on the pier and had a great time for 3 hours.
the long zip lines were fantastic. the only surprise was being dropped into a pool of salt water at the end of each 'zip'
