Caveat - this was a quick weekend two-day cruise so it's not the same as a longer cruise. But there were some issues that shouldn't have happened on any Celebrity cruise no matter what the length.
Pros - Infinity is due to be revolutionized this year. We were on Summit this year so it was interesting to compare the two. Even though Infinity is worn the public areas looked great. The ship was clean and I think in better shape than last spring when we were on Infinity.
The other passengers on this cruise were probably the nicest group of people that we have ever sailed with. Everyone we encountered was very polite and seemed happy. People sometimes call these short cruises "party cruises". We saw a lot of people drinking and having a good time, but did not see anyone getting out of hand or causing a scene.
Embarkation was incredibly quick. I don't think the ship was full so when we arrived around noon we had virtually no waiting. Cabins opened up at about 1:30 (I can't wait until every ship lets you go directly to your cabin) but we were able to easily find a seat in the Oceanview with our luggage.
Cons - The service was a big step below our last cruise on Infinity and our Summit cruise over the summer. Had a bad experience the second night in the MDR (select dining with a reservation). Asked to be placed with the waiter from the night before and they put us all the way across the dining room at the table adjacent to the server's station. Then our waiter simply disappeared halfway through the meal (even the head waiter, who had to clear our table, couldn't find him). This morning we were planning on leaving the stateroom at 7:30 to self disembark. At 7:20 the room attendant let herself into the room without even knocking and seemed shocked that we were still there - and really wanted us out of the room.
Food - Definitely a step below the Summit. Two really bad experiences with desserts. Went to Al Bacio for a snack and asked for a piece of the strawberry cake in the display case. That cake must have been sitting there for a week - the bottom "crust" was so hard you could not cut it with a fork. Next day tried a piece of the pistachio opera cake from the oceanview - same thing - bottom layer was so dry it was like bread. Foccacia was also dry and stale as were some of the rolls in the bread basket in MDR. I felt like they were using up leftovers. One chicken dish in the MDR was so dry and overcooked it was almost inedible. Tried and true things - prime rib and pasta bolognese, were very good though.
Entertainment - I felt like we had the "b" team. Played trivia a couple of times (met some lovely people to team with) and the activities guy was incredibly obnoxious. My husband called him "creepy". Asked the questions then wouldn't shut up. Talked and talked and talked some more - mostly about himself. The production show was Star Factory. We saw this show on the Summit. This case was much less talented. They tried hard but I felt the voices were not nearly as good as the other case - especially the male singers. There was some trouble hitting the notes.
Disembarkation was not great. Tried to get to the Rondezvous where we were supposed to go for self disembark. But the whole ship was self disembark (or it seemed like it). We got about 10 feet into the casino and that was when the line stopped. Ok, no problem, wait in line. But there was no staff directing traffic and no one really knew what was going on - so there was lots of line cutting from the elevators. And no announcement at all that the ship had been cleared.
Saw the Captain once in the elevator. He wasn't very visible during the cruise. And no Captains club activities and no bags or key holders. Not that I needed another one - but not even offered.
It was a cheap cruise and we got what we paid for. But disappointing because I know Celebrity can do better.
6026 is a "sweet sixteen" cabin with the enlarged balcony. The Infinity is due for upgrades this year and this cabin is really showing wear. It was clean, but the bathroom tile is pretty grungy, there was a dark stain on the carpet, and the outdoor furniture needed to be replaced. The wooden bar above the bed (I think there used to be fabric hanging from those bars) was worn out, as were the chair legs on the chair. Everything just looked really tired. Also, we usually don't select a cabin that far aft. We had a rough first night at sea and you could really feel it in this cabin.
