We have just returned from a two week cruise around some of the Caribbean islands. This was only our second cruise. We did the Alaskan cruise a few years ago with P&O and that was amazing too.

We had an inside cabin whereas previously we had had a balcony cabin. Whilst predictably small, it was just adequate for us. The bonus was that it was very dark once the lights were off which helped us sleep. It was also very quiet (E248, Deck 10). Cherrington our delightful cabin steward kept it clean and made it very homely for us.

We mostly ate in the Oriental Restaurant at 18.30 (we were originally given the 20.30 slot but managed to change it without any difficulty). Very good restaurant. Good quality warm food most of the time. Joao and Alex, our lovely waiters, attended to us with efficiency and humour. The other two couples were fabulous company throughout.

We had one meal at Sindhu’s where we had to pay extra. Great meal but it was quite cold in the place we sat and unfortunately the food went cold quite quickly.

We had breakfast at the Peninsular or the Oriental Restaurants. Very good breakfasts and good service. We only ate at the Horizon buffet restaurant if we needed an early quick breakfast. Again very good food.

We enjoyed buying a good coffee or an aperitif at the various bars in the atrium. Hubby enjoyed watching football in Brodie’s.

Entertainment was good but not something we generally go in for but nevertheless gave us something to do in the evenings with our dinner friends.

Excursions whilst costly were better than the independent taxis as they provided narration and a guide. Book early as they are popular. Taxis were abundant everywhere.

The Islands were all amazing, whether they were coral or volcanic. Amazing beaches and rainforests. People were friendly and kind. Their sunny disposition was a joy. We didn’t like the duty free ports shopping as their primary purpose was commercial.

Would I repeat this experience- Yes, after I have seen the rest of the world. Amazing ship, amazing part of the world, courteous staff...
