We've been on a dozen or so cruises and this was our 5th NCL cruise. We chose this cruise because my husband was working in San Juan. It seemed to make for a convenient departure and the ship would hit a lot of islands we were interested in visiting again. We stayed at the Courtyard Miramar and it was fine for a pre-cruise stay.
EMBARKATION was a breeze. We arrived about 1/2 hour before the assigned time of one of our party as three of us were given check in time that was an hour later. From taxi arrival at the port to the moment we stepped onto the ship was about 30 minutes. I did not receive my luggage until 8:30pm so Le Bistro had to accept me in my shorts and tank top.
The SHIP is large and our cruise was sold out so it was also very full of people. The ship is in relatively good condition and it's laid out in a sensible way except for the elevators. Due to it's design, there are not true mid-ship elevators. They're either quite aft or forward so you're walking. A lot.
Really hate the euro-style cabin construction. Did not work for us and offered no privacy. Cabin was incredibly narrow with curved bed cutting down on valuable mattress space. Balcony was double the normal size, offering space for two lounge chairs and two regular chairs and side table. Location in proximity to elevators was great, very convenient.
It was okay. DIdn't see a ton of wildlife and the accommodations were extremely tight. I don't feel like it was worth what we paid.
Didn't catch anything. Not even a nibble and one a boat with 8 people. Kind of disappointing.
Turtle Cove. Best catamaran snorkeling we've ever experience.
