We were the first on line to embark on this 7- day Western Caribbean cruise. Unfortunately, after a smooth security screening by port employees, our Princess (expedited Suite line) employee was asleep on the job. We had to insist on getting a map of this new ship, even though a stack of maps were right in front of him. Then he gave us a standard, blue boarding card instead of an Elite card (as we were in a Penthouse Suite) I questioned this and was told the blue card was correct (wrong!) As I turned to walk away, he grabbed the card from my hand and replaced it with a brown Elite boarding card without saying a word! Card was marked with letter F which meant A-E all boarded before us despite the fact that we were first on line. Live and learn. That won't happen again next February! Silly, but annoying way to start a cruise. Penthouse Suite R609 was gorgeous. Door was open for luggage drop-off by 10:15 Allen, our steward was wonderful!! Concierge lounge for full suite guests was great as was the hostess who could do anything you needed. A terrific, can-do attitude! Sanctuary lounges were all booked for sea days by 10:30 on embark day. We booked a lounge for Roatan day,(am only for $20 each) Don't bother wasting your money. Arrived there at 8am, and as soon as we sat down two workers began drilling right behind our chairs. Went on for one hour. Complained and were moved to a Cabana (at no extra cost for the next three hours) Also credited our $40 back to our account. At least they made good for our inconvenience. Alfredo's was excellent, as always for lunch. Sabatini's we visited twice and was amazing. Bistro Sur Le Mer was also excellent and so was Sabena our server. Too bad there were no tablecloths in such a fine restaurant as well as being a little too open to the public area. Still went there twice. Wonderful selection of movies both outdoors, in the theater and on room TV. Never saw a show as seats were too hard to come by. Main dining room Club Class Dining lacked the advertised "enhanced menu and tableside preparation" Was much better on the Regal Princess last year! Food selection were still very good with something for everyone. Did not take excursions as we have been to all the ports numerous times. Chose to enjoy the quiet of this beautiful ship, and we did.. We were delighted that our Concierge lounge offered a cocktail party each night from 5-7pm. Also, top shelf liquor was offered. To better compete with Celebrity's Michaels's club for Suite guests, mixed drinks (martini, Manhattan, etcl) should be offered. in this lounge. The wine pour in Sabatini's was was only 3-4 ounces. Should be 5-6 ounces. Last night of cruise in Sabatinis, people were allowed to enter wearing shorts. Dress code??? Thermal spa for Suite guests was non-existent even though it was advertised in our cabin directory for Suites. Needs correction. Disembark was a breeze thanks to Princess's development of the Medallion system. No more immigration forms. Just scan your Medallion, and you are on your way home!
