  3. MSC Meraviglia
We chose this cruise to experience MSC Ocean Cay, as well as to enjoy the many on board amenities this ship offers. The disappointing part first; The quality, preparation and often presentation of the food in the main dining room, buffet on Ocean Cay and in the ships buffet. Truly sad that this would be a premiere ship and possibly the best cruise in the Caribbean if MSC could address these issues. The staff tries hard to please and seem completely capable of meeting the challenge. I suspect decisions at the corporate level are handcuffing the on board restaurant staff. The exact opposite is true of the specialty restaurants and Cirque du Soleil meals which were excellent. My impression is that this is a deliberate effort to steer people to the pay venues to generate extra revenue. Factor the cost of specialty dining into your overall cruise cost to have a truly impressive overall experience. Very talented singers, dancers and musicians but the main theater format of the shows was very repetitive 6/7 nights. Best show IMO "Virtual". Cirque shows were both first class, I enjoyed Viaggio slightly more than Sonor. Crowds and excessive noise is prevalent at times in many of the public venues. The good parts; Absolutely beautiful ship! From the Swarovski stair case to the restaurants and lounges, this ship is gorgeous. The staterooms typically small but nice decor, Comfortable and large bed. Choice of hard or soft pillows. Doors not curtains in the shower. It is obvious that lots of feedback and thought has gone into the design and functionality of the staterooms. The pools, splash pad, water slides, rope course, video games and simulators would keep toddlers and even a teenager happy for days. The thermal spa is well appointed, relaxing but smallish and needs more capacity in the thalassotherapy pools and heated stone loungers during busy times. MSC Ocean Cay was truly a special and unique experience and only going to get better once the island is completely developed and matured. This is a game changer. Be careful though as there are lots of sharp and broken coral hazards. It was a great place to relax all day. At night is when this gem really comes alive. Misc; MSC for me app was a useful tool, Not all bars have the same drink ingredients, Ex; Clamato juice, lime wedges, etc. Buffet was somewhat disorganized causing people to butt in line at food stations, for silverware, condiments, drinks. Buffet on Ocean Cay was a gong show, nearly hour long lines to get mediocre food. Housekeeping was great in both staterooms and public areas. I cannot comment on the fitness program or equipment (but it looked great as I regularly whisked by it) Look up! the galleria ceiling projects interesting led images and several 3 - 5 minutes shows throughout each evening, impressive as well as innovative. I could say more. I would probably book this cruise again.

Main dining, Buffet, Ocean Cay, Sadly food is the weak spot on this ship

  • Horseback Riding
Horseback ride seemed to be cut short due to overbooking. I think I got chewed up by sand bugs while relaxing on the beautiful beach
