  3. Sky Princess
We always cruise with Princess, and each time a new ship comes out, we like to give it a try. The Sky princess is beautiful - we particularly like the more elegant, upgraded furniture, especially in the area just outside the Crown Grill. It was a good idea to take the wall down by Princess Live - much more open and a good area to sit when there are no activities there. The new configuration of the main pool area is a nice change as well, the new Sanctuary and Retreat Pool are very nice, the theatre productions were excellent, as usual! Alfredos is fantastic! However, the reason for the "3" rating is that there were several things that really bothered us, and if this is the way Princess is moving with their ships going forward, after almost 40 cruises, we will begin to look at a different cruise line. Here are the things that we really don't like: - the Piazza is no longer a place to relax, whether it be in the morning/afternoon for coffee/tea or in the evening for wine pre/post dinner. It is very loud - music, line dancing, all kinds of silly activities, and now in the evening, this seems to be the place to dance. Everyone anywhere near the Piazza is forced to put up with this. Please move these kinds of activities back to Vista, Take 5, or some other area where those who like these things can enjoy them without impacting everyone else on the ship -Take 5 is a very nice spot but only if you like Jazz - I don't mind Jazz some of the time, but not every night. We are used to Skywalkers and Club 6 on the other ships where there is much more music variety. -we were on the ship with a group of 900 passengers who were given sole use of Vista and Take 5 for most of the cruise - meaning that there remaining almost 2000 passengers were not permitted to go there most evenings. This is terrible. We paid for the same cruise yet were not permitted to access all places on the ship. -the deck chair saving is getting out of control and was the worst we've ever seen a a ship. Even the beautiful rattan chairs (which we really like) are reserved - all day. We were on the ship 2 weeks and were only able to find chairs only about 3 times. Please hire someone to specifically do this job. We asked the pool attendant about it and he said it was not their job. There is no point in having rules if you are not prepared to consistently enforce them. -We don't really like the shop area now either. They are pretty much only for those who wish to purchase very expensive jewellery. This is a shame. -the "outlet sales" in the dining rooms are very junky. We used to be able to pick up some nice Tshirts, jackets etc. for a reasonable price. If Princess is trying to get rid of some of their clothing offerings, it would be nice if they could donate them. Bistro Sur le Mer is awful - very smelly, and it looks like a cafeteria. Since Take 5 is strictly Jazz, Vista (when available) is only open later, and the Piazza is far too loud, I would rather like to see Princess go back to a general piano lounge in this area where passengers can relax with a drink and nice music. The Bistro was virtually empty most of the time we were on the ship. Finally - the dress code in the dining rooms is not addressed. Again, there is no point in having rules if nobody is prepared to enforce them. We had traditional dining in the Cielo dining room and every night there were people there in shorts, T-shirts and even flip flops. Dining formally is one of the things we really enjoy about cruising but the dining rooms are becoming just like cafeterias - a real shame.
