First of all, I got an excellent deal on this cruise and took that into account before writing. The good. The ship is new and beautiful. State of the art everything. Can't say enough about the kids club. Lots of activities and the staff were amazing. Mozzarella balls, made on the ship are addictive as was the gilatto. Movies on the big screen by the pool were great. Debarkatiion was smooth and probably 20 minutes ship to taxi. Crew on the dock welcoming guests back to the ship in Roatan was a nice touch. Not big drinker so opted out of the drink package. At $300 to break even, you need to drink 50 beer in the week. If you're travelling with non drinker, you still need to buy the package and now need to drink 100 beer in the week. When you aren't on board 4 of those days... Same with soda package. I feel $250 is excessive as I wouldn't allow my 6 year old to drink that much soda. Embarkation was brutal. Two hours packed in like cattle with 5 staff checking in. Be prepared to pay for everything. Gone are the days were everything is included except for drinks, on board MSC Meraviglia, be prepared to pay for everything. When did it become ok to interrupt guests at dinner to sell drink packages, excursions and specialty dining? Cirque show was great ($20 per person) bowling, $25 half hour. Driving simulator $20 for 10 minutes. Choc and vanilla ice cream available but gelato (incredible) at $3 per scoop. Including dining has four options on the menu. Assumed that the other 4 items were included in gourmet dining package... wrong. Spent 12 hours arguing to get a $50 charge removed that I hadn't signed for. Complimentary embarkation photo was a nice touch until I saw a $40 charge on my bill and read the small print. If you don't return it, they bill your account. The ship is DIRTY. Every flat surface had coffee cups, glasses or bottles on them, not for a short time but hours. Watched as crew members walked by without ever making any effort to clean. Perhaps the sales people selling the drink packages would be better utilized cleaning up. Reserving lounge chairs not unique to MSC but goes completely unchecked. Charging for soda in the dining room, charging your guests to use an umbrella on your private island is beneath the MSC name and lowers the opinion. The only place to smoke on board is deck 16 in the back corner of the ship, right at the running track. Be prepared to get stank eye from the joggers every morning and as the ship is huge, pick a room accordingly near the back if you smoke. The service staff ranged from good to should find another line of work outside the customer service field. Nobody was rude but some seemed annoyed if you ordered something. Variety at the buffet is lacking but always have hamburgers, hot dogs and pizza. I'm good with that as I like these items but if you're looking for more, look on another ship. Breakfasts were good in buffet, lots of variety and good quality. Line up for omelettes always huge and coffee often empty. Spending the last 12 hours on board fighting over a $50 charge when my on board account was at $1100 left a bad taste in my mouth. We've sailed on Princess, Carnival and Norwegian but wanted to try MSC. We'll be returning to them for future cruises.
Cabin was a good size, bathroom tight but I'm 6'8" so probably fine for the average. Didn't really spend much time in there except to sleep anyway
Just hung out by the pool, nice relaxing day
Rain forest to interact with wild monkeys.
Weather was windy and cool, water also.
