We always choose cruise based on itinerary and we loved this southern Caribbean sailing. We had sailed the Epic several years ago so we knew her flaws. There is a reason there is no Epic two. Despite what we had read on CC before we left staff was excellent across the board. Our mid ship balcony was what we remembered from prior cruise. Enough has been already stated about the design and we agree the layout is awkward. However, plenty of storage and hot water. Balcony is a little larger than many newer ships so that is a plus since we use it often.
We had a five meal specialty restaurant package and with our platinum benefits ate most dinners in these restaurants. Moderno is definitely under staffed and it really shows up with the initial rush upon opening. Staff could not work any harder, but there is only so much you can do. The manager at Moderno is very hands on and really went over and above to deal with some of the issues we experienced. We actually never complained but he was aware of what we were experiencing.
Cagney’s was great as well as Le Bistro. We eat very little red meat at home, but enjoyed the quality and service at these two restaurants Tappenyaki was okay, it was 40 years since our last experience at such a restaurant. We enjoyed it, but that will hold us for awhile. Shanghai noodle bar is usually very good and we frequent it often on other ships. However, except for spring rolls everything was lukewarm at best. Emmanuel the manager insisted we return and he would make it better, but we ran out of time.
