I have cruised with Carnival, Royal Carribean, Princess, and Holland. This was my first Viking cruise. Yes, it costs a bit more, but for 60-year old me, this is the way to cruise! Here are some differences I noted: • OLD passengers…..really old • Trivia winner gets ABSOLUTELY NOTHING……not a plastic boat or anything • No formal night • No extra cost for the special restaurants • Eat when you want….no assigned time for dinner or assigned seats • No restaurant “shows” • No restaurant-wide announcements • 3 people waiting on you at the table • No cruise director announcements….”well good morning folks. Here is the list of activities today so you don’t have to actually read your daily paper” • No children • Plenty of chairs….everywhere, including pool side • No cost tours at every port • 100% balcony rooms • Unlimited beer and wine included at lunch and dinner • Free beer on football playoffs • Free mini bar with snacks and soft drinks • No silly contest (e.g. hairy chest) • Free laundry • No pushing of special drinks • Manageable size ship • 2:1 passenger to staff • No animal towels • No nightly chocolate on pillow • Art Guide cool idea, but was not working • Thermal suite • Huge spa • Droid app with schedule, etc. • No casino • Free water on tours • Free water when going ashore • OK to bring booze on and drink in room • No midnight buffet • No 24-hour food like all night pizza • No disco • Big state room • No game room • Just order verbally for drinks, giving your room number • Board game equipment sitting out….no check out from desk • No lines…..anywhere • Real hand towels in public restrooms • No clocks • Site-down muster • Hospitality suite at a hotel on departure day for late departures….with snacks and soft drinks REALLY REALLY easy embarkation and disembark. No real lines. Fast.

How Viking was different from the other cruises I have been on.
