We cruise reasonably often and following a disastrous voyage on the "Pacific Jewel" in 2019 we were reluctant to try it again. However, due to an excellent value for money offer, we made a decision to take a 12-night cruise on the "Vasco da Gama" to Bali & back to Fremantle. Sure the ship is a bit dated but so are we! From our experience, this voyage met all of our expectations and probably more. Our cabin was not an upmarket one but it was still adequate and the cabin stewards very attentive. Overall the staff was brilliant, so happy and obliging and sometimes we had to wait a few minutes for our drinks when ordered. Casting my mind back I might have had to do this at a pub or restaurant at home in Australia! Those who complain - just get over it and think of the more important things in life. The food on board was top class and a huge variety to choose from and the service in the restaurants was superb. We were seeking a cruise based on acquiring rest and relaxation and we certainly got that on the "Vasco da Gama". If you are seeking a cruise that provides activities and entertainment 24/7 this is probably the wrong ship for you but if you want a cruise that will provide an environment with peace and quiet with plenty of trimmings this could meet your needs. I cannot recommend the "Vasco da Gama" highly enough.
The cabin was adequate for our needs. It was always well maintained by the cabin stewards. We initially had an issue with the toilet but it was rectified quickly by the maintenance staff. The beds were comfortable to sleep in and the cabin itself was roomy enough for us although apart from sleeping we didn't spend a heap of time in it.
We went for quick walk through Geraldtons shopping precinct.
