Sail Date: May 2010

We left from Barcelona on 15 may and were to see 7 ports of call. We were a party of 6 with a lot of cruise experience.First three ports were fine with everyone but when we were to arrive in Naples we were told the night before we would be tendering and not to dock all of a sudden. It was a beautiful day with 70 degree weather, they used the excuse of high swells. We found out later that RCL had exchanged our dock with another ship to save money and that the tendering was cheaper. We were told after two hours that we were not tendering but were leaving Naples with a small earlier arrival in Venice. We were never given our port charges back for not seeing Naples and were not given the real reason. It was excuse after excuse for five days. As for the dining experience, the food was not that good. The menu was repetitive after 3 days and not always hot. Overall we had a good experience with the ports and all the wonderful sites but the experience on the ship was not that good. If you wanted to get a bite to eat after the late show you had to go to the back of the ship to the Seaview cafe. To get there you had to go outside for 1/3 of the ship and we had heavy seas the first three days with high winds. Not the best cruise experience for a late night bite to eat. We set up two nights at the Chops grill which I paid $25 extra for each person. We had to pay for water and also coffee off the dessert menu even though we had paid the extra monies and were never informed, it was just added to the bill. The ports were outstanding but the ship experience was not good. We talked with numerous RCL cruisers and they said this was by far their worst experience with RCL and would definately think twice with using them in the future. This was to be a trip of a lifetime for someone turning 60 on the ship but turned out to be a bad ship experience. Now on the good side, our room attendant was outstanding and our headwaiter and assistant were wonderful and should be commended for their outstanding work. She shows were good but there weren't enough activities to keep people busy throughout the day and night. The cruise director and assistant need to be changed and the overall concept on the ship made to fit. On a down note, alot of people on the ship caught a cough virus which lasted the whole time. I paid $180 to see a ships doctor and the medications didn't work on getting rid of the cough or the congestion. We will cruise again but not with RCL, sorry.

Cabin Review

Cabin Bal

Cabin was like all other cabins on cruises. But the cabin experience is really the value of your cabin attendant and I would rate ours a "5 out of 5". We had a lot of fun with ours. We had three balconies together but couldn't open the areas between on the balcony, but it still worked out ok for everyone. Overall experience with the cabins was good.
