We have been on many NCL ships, including the Dawn. Our cabin was great along with embankment and disembarkment and service. The ship was very clean and personnel were very friendly. However, we are not picky eaters, but when the best thing for lunch was a hotdog, you know there are poor choices. How do you screw up the food on a cruise !! The selections on the buffet were just not good and we like to try different things, but some we just couldn’t eat. Primarily we ate in the dining halls and the buffet and did not do any speciality dining. Several selections had strange flavors and textures, dry and overcooked and mostly were subpar.Things changed while in San Juan with an inspection that occurred during breakfast, and from then on passengers were served by attendants instead of yourself at the buffets. That I like, as we encountered this with Holland last year.

Since this was a 12 day cruise, many of the passengers were older. I am always surprised by the music selection played around the pool area when they know it is an older crowd and adjustments in the selections aren’t taken into consideration. When they did have a group playing classic rock,, everyone enjoyed them.

Overall, we probably will not be sailing with NCL again.
