Got what we thought was a good deal & really liked the itinerary. Unfortunately the times in port were very restricting for example we didn’t get ashore in Napier until 5.30 pm when most everything was closed & only had 90 minutes there. Dunedin & Wellington had to be back on ship really early.

Complimentary food in MDR & Lido was just awful - stale bread, little choice, lukewarm or cold food, meat often really tough, minimal breakfast cereal choice & the same fresh fruit apples, orange, pineapple & melon every day - no berries or soft stone fruit, which given the season is ridiculous. No juice only cordial & water was not particularly cold. Extremely small portions in the MDR. The Pavillion was slightly better. The best meals we had were the barbecue on the first night (included in fare) & meals in the Blue Lagoon & the Italian pizza/pasta place which we had to pay for.

Our original cabin was dreadful, small, smelly & dark - meant to be an oceanview stateroom, but only had a tiny porthole which had to be closed in rough seas! However guest services were very responsive & we were transferred to a better cabin. Bathroom was good, nice to have a roomy shower. Bedding also good, comfy & clean. Unfortunately we had rough seas for 3 nights & the wardrobe doors kept crashing open & closed - eventually we rammed open with life jackets!
