Sail Date: Jun 2019

We chose this cruise specifically to experience the midnight sun, but unfortunately shortly after crossing the Arctic Circle the weather became an issue. Still we did experience twenty-four hour daylight which nevertheless was awesome. Sailing into the fjords was a marvellous experience.

Visiting Bergen and seeing Bryggen Wharf was fascinating. The visit to Ovre Eide Farm was very worthwhile experiencing a snippet of Norwegian farm life. ...And the hospitality and Norwegian food was so tasty.

Geiranger was very interesting, especially the drive to Eagles Bend Overlook travelling along eleven switchbacks and a magnificent view from this high location. Djupvatn Lake was refreshing still with unmelted ice and snow up on the slopes.

Cabin Review

Comfortable, adequate space, excellent climate control, very quiet, amenities more than adequate, very clean and excellent maintenance by cabin stewards who were always pleasant and most accommodating. (Thank you Cvita and Mikko.) Room service was excellent.

Our travel advisor, Doron Lazarovitz, was outstanding and attended to every detail with our complete satisfaction. (Strongly recommend you request his guidance.)

Other crew members who also were most accommodating were Yuri ,Erald, Courtney, Mila, Ravi, Dustin, Pankaj and many others whose name tags I was unable to read.

Dining experience and food always was very good.

Port Reviews

Highlights of Historic Orkney was very educational. The near 5000 year old Neolithic Ring of Brodgar was very impressive. Regrettably due to time conflicts it was impossible to participate in other tours. Would like to spend a week or so on Orkney...maybe some time in the future.

Edinburgh (South Queensferry)

Edinburgh is an awesome city with a wealth of history...so much to see but little time. Walking the Royal Mile is a must.

Honningsvag (North Cape)

The drive to North Cape is a real exposure to barren tundra. A visit to the Sami craft shop is interesting. The North Cape Hall is very informative. Dress well for the weather — the day spent there was bloody nasty with cold rain and very gusty winds high enough to throw one off balance.

It would have been nice to have a had a short lecture delivered by a Sami presenter to relate Sami life and challenges faced in a contemporary world.

Gravdal (Lofoten Islands)

Panoramic Lofoten was a bit of a disappointment due to foul weather. If there had been a native Norwegian guide who was well versed in the geology, geography, culture, occupations, and history of the region, this would have made the tour very worthwhile in spite of the weather!
