Chose Viking based on friend’s recommendation. Not disappointed at all. I’m guessing they’re expensive compared to other river cruise lines, but if there is any way you can afford it, spend the extra money.

One thing about river cruises we didn’t realize were the several possible disruptions due to weather, river depths and lock delays (you go through 50 some locks). None of which are Viking’s fault of course. I can’t imagine any company handling these annoyances any better. They keep you informed, answer your questions before you ask them and absorb all costs and lost revenue gracefully.

The ship itself and cabin were in great condition. No frayed edges or deferred maintenance. Read more
