Sail Date: Jan 2019

After sailing with Viking twice previously, we chose Viking to fulfill a long held ambition of visiting NZ and Australia on the same holiday. We were not disappointed, the itinerary was perfect for sampling these two countries, much loved by our fellow countrymen. Viking give a range of excursion options for destinations and we frequently choose the included option and find them to be excellent in providing a good overview in the limited time available. The onboard lectures and tv accessed channels allow for extensive prior briefing of your destination to really maximise the cultural experience of your visit and Viking should be complimented on this service. Ironically, we chose to pay for a trip to the southern alps in New Zealand and unfortunately this was disappointing largely because we drove into wet and misty conditions that sadly ruined any spectacular scenery views.( not Viking’s fault, the luck of the draw!)

The ship was quite new at the time of our cruise ( Jan 2019) and was immaculate. We had a Penthouse Veranda cabin and found it to be comfortable and well appointed. The cabin was generous in size and tastefully fitted with the “Skandi cool” decor and furniture in theme with all common areas of the ship. With only some 930 max passengers ( only 36 of us Brits at the time) the ship never feels crowded and there are many quiet areas to enjoy the sailing whilst at sea.

My wife has given a full report on the ship’s services and staff, etc and should be read in conjunction with my comments! All good!
