We loved our time in Amsterdam, our hotel was charming and we had a great stay. The transfer to the boat went very smoothly. Rainy weather hampered some of the enjoyment of our stops. Our time in Cologne was too short. We spent a lot of time on the bus as our boat was docked quite a distance from the city. The weather was miserable and there was little time after the tour to explore. The other shore excursions were enjoyable and there was good variety. The dining on the boat was amazing. We enjoyed all meals and the service was great. We enjoyed the evening entertainment, the cruise director and chef adding their music talents. The cabins are efficient, clean and well cared for. Disembarking also went smoothly. We enjoyed our final stay in Lucerne and the Viking staff in the hotel were helpful. Our plane in Zurich was delayed and there was no one to meet us in Amsterdam on our return. This caused a few tense moments as we were somewhat short of time.
