  3. Celebrity Summit
We are first time Celebrity cruisers having sailed on NCL and Carnival and had high expectations for the dining on the Summit. The first noticeable thing was the distinct demographic of retired affluent people. If you saw kid running around it was like seeing a unicorn. However, rascals were abundant racing to the buffet or casino. The MDR turned out to be a hot mess. The food quality was better in the buffet then in the MDR. The Tuscan Grill was awesome and Sushi on 5 was like a well kept secret. It was virtually empty every time we went. We also tried the sea day seafood special in Qsine which was could have been better organized because the amount of salmon given was more than enough for dinner and was much too large of a portion. Out of all our cruises, we made the most connections with the staff on this cruise. Service was top notch. The bartenders work very hard especially those at the martini bar. The two cabin issues were handled promptly. The entertainment was ok for the length of the cruise. The magic act lacked magic and included about a 10 minute youtube video of the magician doing a stunt on a reality tv show! The two comedians were good. The singers and stage productions were really good. Soloists and duets floated around the ship. There was only a single newlywed type game show which was great but there should have been more audience participation shows. Overall, NCL and Carnival do better by providing more shows. Overall, it was an enjoyable cruise and I'd sail on the Summit again.

An amazing itinerary on a beautifully refurbished ship

  • Snorkeling
If the snorkel tour company says plan A is too rough and they will give you 10% back to do plan B, then say no and get 100% refund. We did plan B which took you by the dump with burning garbage to snorkel in very rough water. The lunch at the beach restaurant was replaced with containers of food on the catamaran. Granted the crew did the best they could for the conditions but it was not worth the money. Didn't see very many fish either.

  • Bonaire
Go by bus to see the salt flats, flamingos and slave quarters. End up at the classy Delphin beach resort for a high quality lunch and about 3 hours of beach time. Bring water shoes because there is lots of coral and rocks.

  • National Park
The Beauties of Curacao tour had a bus drive through the town and took us up to the northern most point of the island to see the impressive sheka(sp?) boka national park where more time would have been nice and then a short distance away it stopped at the the smaller knip beach for some beach time. Lastly it stopped at a land house art museum.

  • Spices and Waterfalls
This tour gave a great overview of the island. It does take a while to get north to the waterfalls and national park. Fort Frederick was only good for a photo op of the Summit docked in the bay.

  • Beach
We went to Cockleshell beach which was about 20 minutes by bus from the port. The beach itself has scenic views of Nevis and the ride over has iconic views of both the Atlantic ocean and Caribbean sea.

  • St. Lucia
The first stop was at a private house on top of a hill with scenic overlooks of Rodney bay. The grounds are gorgeous. Nest stop was at Pigeon Island. We went into the park where there was a beach or you could hike up for scenic views and awesome pictures. A guy in a boat sold beers and fresh mangoes to the people on the beach. The mangoes were incredibly sweet!

  • Snorkeling
The land part brought us to lunch on the beach which was only OK after having all the great ship food. Then we got on a catamaran and went to some black sand beach which was uninhabited. We did not see any fish but it was very scenic.
