I was so looking forward to this 14 day Southern Caribbean cruise out of New York. First the good. The ship is beautiful. Our cabin steward Guilson was amazing. That’s about where it ends. I was one of those fools who bid on and paid for an upgrade to a spa mini suite. Having experienced the thermal spa before, I knew we would spend time there. So even though my bid was on the higher end, I was still excited when it was accepted. So we were moved from cabin 15760 a mini suite to 15780 a mini spa suite. Don’t get me wrong, I love the shower and access to the thermal spa. What I don’t love is the incessant thumping and pounding from the pool deck above where they seem to have most of their nightly entertainment. When I was on the breakaway last year, the entertainment was held in spice h20, which I believe was above the garden cafe...not staterooms that cost over 3500 per person. Evening entertainment in the atrium is lacking as well with one band playing there most nights. Where are the game shows? The fun audience participation games? We’ve had 2 of those so far and we’re already on day 10. And I’ve spoken with other people on the ship who feel the same way. Thank goodness for the specialty meal package because otherwise the food is repetitive. The staff on the ship is lovely. As I said the ship is beautiful, but this vacation has been less than blissful. Maybe I need to experience another breakaway class or even a jewel class cruise to make me love cruising again.
