  3. MSC Armonia
MSC has been heavily promoting its new luxury ships. Then we got a price offer that was great. So, we decided to give MSC a try. When we arrived at the port we found the Armonia, the oldest ship in the MSC fleet. The interior was outdated and shabby. The food was cold, over cooked, and tasteless. We tried for better by paying the up charge at their specialty restaurant. No luck. When I sent the cold french fries back, the replacement they gave me was hot but only partially cooked. The crew members were nice but poorly trained. Their procedures for debarking excursions were chaotic - several hundred people struggling to get into long lines. Security stations to leave and return to the ship were inadequate fo the number of passengers resulting in long lines. While on the cruise we learned the Armonia had been expanded to hold more passengers by cutting it in two and inserting a section of cabins. That explained a lot. This is a ship with kitchens, crew size and common areas that were never designed to support the number of passengers the ship now holds. We talked to a lot of other passengers who felt the same. Many were long time MSC customers who urged us to give MSC another try but on a different ship. Sorry, we won’t.
