Cabin: Mid-ship Balcony Stateroom

We have been on many cruises (lost count) but are NCL Latitudes Plus cruisers so likely more than 15 on NCL. Last 10 cruises have been suites/haven but we decided to try a regular balcony cabin. Save a few bucks and mainly we didn’t use the suite perks that much. For example we never once ate breakfast in Cagney’s or haven. We also get many of the perks via Latitudes anyway. At arrival we went straight thru security, to a counter on the far right to check in with no wait and then walked right on board. No lines. Nice!

We enjoyed a very nicely laid out cabin with adequate closet and drawer space. We really liked the privacy of NOT having the cabin steward, butler and concierge constantly knocking on our door and bringing more food we're not interested in and asking if we need anything. Ok, this may sound weird, but we actually enjoyed being left alone.

Anyway, the ship is beautiful, food was consistently great in all venues. Ate in Main dining twice and 5 specialties. Had a hard time getting specialty restaurant res. Did it first thing upon boarding was to go for dining reservations. Not much luck so after lunch we went to stand in a short line to try and get reservations at a reservations desk. Better luck but no Platinum Plus VIP treatment. When cruising in a suite we would have the concierge make reservations upon boarding but subsequently we often just stopped at the reservations desk to make changes etc. on this ship we stopped during the week trying to get reservations or change to better times but nothing was ever available. I found this very aggravating and by far a bigger issue than other NCL ships. Either stop the free dining or build more room in those specialty restaurants. Wow, had the prices gone up since our last cruise!
