Many of our friends had recommended a cruise of the Alaskan inner passage, sharing their experiences with enthusiasm. Some had sailed with Viking and were very impressed. We looked into available sailing dates and found an ideal match for our summer travel plans. From the time we walked into the airport lobby in Anchorage, we knew this was going to be an experience to remember. Every detail of transportation from getting to the ship to excursions at every port, then including at the last port in Vancouver CA was very well organized. The staff was professional, understandable, and "in charge" the whole time. On board, the ship was immaculate, our state room was spacious, bright and well appointed. We enjoyed practically all the activities that were available including learning about the local history and culture. Our on-shore excursions were also learning experiences. We saw breath-taking natural beauty, experienced the local art and cuisine, plus had a great thrill ride on the world's highest and longest zip ride. Our sailing experience was smooth and picturesque with beautiful vistas, sunsets, and calm seas. Of course the food was delicious and varied. Meeting others on the ship was fun and added to the spirit of adventure. What a trip!
Easy hike and learned about glaciers in general.
Exhilarating 90 seconds, don't miss it!
The bus trip up the pass included viewing the railway and a train passing. The views were impressive.
Best history and explanation in their visitor center.
Great short hike and splendid views!
The Russian heritage is on great display, especially the cathedral.
Short play without much explanation or enthusiasm from the performers. Could have been a real highlight, but it wasn't.
Great preservation of culture, especially the totem displays.
