We chose this cruise because we liked the date, number of sea days, and thought it would be fun to be on a new ship. We were not disappointed. I will get into all the good stuff later but will cover what we did not like. At check in we were not given a ship map which is unlike our other NCL cruises. We solved this problem by going to guest services once we got on and got one. We do not like paper straws in frozen drinks. Seems crazy that drinks are served in plastic cups but no plastic straws. It was very hard to hear ship announcements in the common areas and of course inside the cabin we could not hear them. Maybe should make the announcements a little bit louder. Finally and we knew this ahead of time, it would have been much nicer to arrive in San Juan during daylight hours.

Now all the good. The entertainment on this ship was outstanding. Choir of Men was probably the best show we have ever seen on a cruise. Kinky Boots was excellent as well. Bands scattered around the ship in various locations were very good. We especially loved the Guns and Rojas band. We did take in one comedy show and enjoyed it. We thought we were not going to be able to see the comedy show due to needing reservations but discovered the standby line and had not issue getting in. The dining in all locations was very good if not excellent. We ate in specialty restaurants Los Lobos, Cagney's and Le Bistro and the food and service in all were outstanding. We noticed in the buffet in the mornings there were numerous omelette stations. Buffet area is huge and seemed to accommodate the large crowds. We discovered in the buffet that if you walk all the way forward to the very front of the ship hardly anyone was sitting there. We ate breakfast in Taste, a main dining room, a couple of times and service was excellent. Dinner in Manhatten Dining room was very good as well. Bar service and drinks were great. Do check out Sugarcane Mojito Bar. Great bartender here and yummy drinks. Lots has been reported about lack of deck chairs and seating around the pool. We did not find this to be an issue as we do not like to sit right next to the pool and were able to find chairs one deck up where we could see or hear all the activity. Also, there are many seating areas all along The Waterfront if you don't mind a relaxing area away from the hustle and bustle, with great views. Our balcony cabin was well appointed with plenty of storage and our balcony chairs even reclined which was great. Cabin steward did a nice job. We had excellent service from all wait staff in all locations. Staff on this ship were excellent. We did not pay for lots of extras once onboard but my husband is a racing fan so he did the Speedway and enjoyed it. He also used the fitness center. The observation area was also terrific and huge. Getting on and off the ship was easy. We rarely had to wait for elevators. If you are a casino fan the one on this ship is adequate and seemed to be looser than other ships. As a final note, when we were debarking we met a couple who were on their 75 cruise on various cruise lines. They said they rated this cruise a 9+ on a scale of 1 to 10. We agree.

San Juan

We were going to walk around San Juan but since it was dark we did not walk around much. Ended up stopping at Triana Restaurant and ate dinner and saw their guitar and Flamenco show with Juan Carlos. It was a great show and dinner was reasonable.
