We chose this cruise because we had our 2 adult offspring & a spouse along (25 y/o son, 28 y/o daughter and 29 y/o son-in-law) thinking they would enjoy all the amplifications.
Let me start by saying that (a) we had a fantastic time with our family - that part was everything we hope it would be and (b) this is our take - I think families with young children would LOVE this cruise. This was our son-in-law's first cruise.
Cabin review below.
Overall the food was just ok, certainly nothing special - ii actually ate the dry salmon most nights as there wasn't much else that appealed. HOWEVER, the tenderloin/filet on the 1st "chic" night was OUTSTANDING. Each cabin had one mediocre specialty meal at Giovanni's table. Glad it was a free perk...it was also loud and the tables were on top of each other. Waiter and assistant waiter in MDR were excellent.
We split our breafasts between the MDR, the Solarium Cafe and the Windjammer. Food consistently cold.
We are not big drinkers but noticed that the bar service was very good.
Outdoor Activities - child based
Water slides, mini-golf, surf simulator, basketball court, Boardwalk
The Shows:
Aqua 80's EXCELLENT
Headliner GOOD
One Sky, Frozen in Time and Cats - NOT GOOD
Other Entertainment:
Classical guitarist EXCELLENT
Jazz Band EXCELLENT
Aerosmith Tribute Band EXCELLENT
Orchestra EXCELLENT
Indoor Activities
Escape Room EXCELLENT
Sushi Making GOOD
Wine tasting NOT GREAT
Trivia - VERY GOOD
Casino - AVERAGE
Labadee - Daughter & SIL went to the beach at the port, said it was their favorite
Falmouth - We all went to a beach club, won't go back to Jamaica anytime soon.
Cozumel - Weather postponed our excursion so 3 of us did a trolley tour instead. Good time. We had front row seats for the Carnival collition while we were waiting on the dock for the trolley. Daugher and SIL went to beach club said it was good but Labadee was better.
VOOM Surf & STREAM package - worked fine, no issues.
My opinion is that this trip is best for families with children. The amplification was definatly geared towards kids. It was a little too circus-like for us. Previous cruise to this was on Celebrity which seems to be a better fit for us at this point.
My husband, son and I shared a Central Park balcony - son said the sofa bed was terrible...in retrospect we should have had the cabin steward take down the pullman for him to try. Bathroom was OK - but the shower is really tiny and we aren't big people!
We enjoyed the balcony - a classical guitarist played each night in the park below (we were on deck 12). We didn't miss having an ocean balcony too much. Would choose again if the price was right. Cabin seemed a bit tired, it did not appear updated/amplified at all. A little tight for 3 adults. Cabin attendant excellent.
Daughter and son-in-law had an ocean balcony on deck 9. Cabin seemed to have had some updates like new carpet. The bed was also situated near the balcony which made the room seem larger.
Beach with open bar and lunch. Service good. Drinks made with low quality alcohol...beer cold. Food ok. People trying to sell stuff...
