If you enjoy the outdoors, the ports on this cruise won’t disappoint.
My husband and I hiked, rode bikes, climbed waterfalls, in short, took advantage of the landscapes offered in Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Norway. We planned most of our own shore excursions by ourselves or with a small group. We both hate large coach tours, so most shore excursions offered by Viking were not an option.
The 4:00 pm embarkation time for most ports is slightly problematic. Even one more hour would be an improvement.
On the upside, Viking does an amazing job of quickly moving folks on and off the ship.
Norway remains my favorite. We are still discussing the possibility of a return land trip. The scenery is simply breathtaking.
The Viking Sky is a beautiful ship, simple to navigate yet large enough that crowding was never an issue. The floor to ceiling widows provide a breathtaking view of the fjords. Another stand out on Viking, the Staff. Without exception, the best service We experienced on a cruise.
Our Deluxe Veranda was a bit of a disappointment. It was exactly the same as the lowest priced Veranda cabin our friends stayed in. We were barely able to pass between the wall and the bed. The bathroom, however, was great.
Another disappointment were the seafood dinner parties offered in the pool area. The shrimp were terrible, rubbery and soggy. The mussels similar. We expected the seafood on this trip to be excellent.
All other food and service.....fantastic!
The cabin was very clean and well maintained. Was dissatisfied with the distance between the wall and the bed.
The closet and storage is minimal. The closet is difficult to open, due to lack of room between bed and doors.
The bathroom is spacious and well payed out. Very nice.
The balcony was very adequate. Enjoyed sitting outside.
