The NCL free promotions for dining and beverages etc is a real differentiator. I have noticed that in the last few years the cruise lines are now up charging for everything and it is very annoying. I would rather pay a little more and not have to be nickel and dimed. At RC (Royal Carribbien) and Princess you now have many items on the menu which are at additional cost. Seriously - it just ruins the experience. You don't have this at NCL. If you are in the complimentary dining areas - you can order anything off the menu and its included. Of course there are specialty restaurants - but that's ok. The buffet is probably the best of the cruise lines I have been on - RC, Carnival, NCL and Princess. Good variety and quality. Only problem is that it ends a bit earlier than I would like. The main dining areas are ok - not great. Think Princess is the best of the 4. The service is extremely slow. I assume its the kitchen. Experienced the same issue at multiple dining areas. The Teppanyaki restaurant was excellent. Shanghai Noodle was pretty bad. Clancy's was excellent - although they had some up charges. La Cucina - was ok - but not great. The shows are ok but there is only really 2 for the week. The other shows cost extra. The comedy shows were packed and I was never able to get in. The venue was too small. They had a terrific venue for movies and hardly used it on the 16th floor. Very few movie offerings - most nights none - and no popcorn. Also unlike RC no soda fountain so you must get it from the bar and they did not provide a complimentary container for the package. The Cruise director seemed to be non-existent except during announcements. During our cruise we had high winds and they cancelled a port. Think it was pretty predictable since it was windy 24 hours earlier - perhaps they could have planned better for more activities. All in all NCL was enjoyable but has some room for improvement.

DO NOT EVER BOOK THROUGH EXPEDIA!!!!!!

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom
Cabin BD
Cabin was smaller than I am used to on other cruise lines but was enough room. Balcony also was pretty small. The only issue was some smells in the bathroom - not sure if the steward did not clean well enuf or the design of the toilet.
