Friends invited us to join them on Inside Passage. We were reluctant since we had never been on a cruise. The trip surpassed all expectations.
After spending four days in Vancouver, the departure city, we stepped aboard the Viking Orion for our first ever cruise and were greeted with a glass of champagne! A great way to start our experience. We met our friends for cocktails and dinner as our ship left shore for Alaska.
The next day we spent discovering what was on the ship. The spot that became our afternoon favorite was the hidden coffee and pastry bar. Delightful after a day of shore exploring.
Every crew member was friendly and eager to be of service. I had mentioned that I use soy milk/cream in my coffee. Miraculously, soy milk appear in our cabin fridge. Our verdana windows were cleaned daily so that nothing blurred our beautiful view each morning.
Loved the World Cafe relaxed dining. Food from every part of the world was available and perfectly cooked. This is not just a buffet. Many selections were made to order.
Alaska is stunning. Most of the places we visited could only be accessed from shore. The towns are quaint and full of history. It was a most relaxing vacation.
Cozy. Our veranda view was something to look forward to every morning.

Rented a car for the day. Drove to the glacier and hiked then drove into the mountains.
Hiked into the wilderness in search of bears. None found that day but saw evidence of their existence.
