  3. Viking Sea
Nine islands in 11 days from San Juan, with a “small” ship and wonderful staff. It helped us complete our Caribbean “bucket list.” And made it all easy-from the airport to our return. Viking does a great job on getting you from one place to another. And the embarkation/disembarkation processes were exceptional! Specialty dining was great, and formal/informal dining shared menus, unlike many other lines-so you could stay informal and still enjoy top quality food all day. Could use a late night option. On board entertainment was not geared for younger passengers, but the shoes and the strings/guitarists/singers in the lounges were very talented. The daily included tours gave us good representations of the islands, and options for other experiences were easy to book and provided what they said. The cabin was large enough for us, and service was there at the drop of a hat. Bar staff took good care of us and were helpful, engaging and showed an interest in all of the passengers...and great memories for names and drinks! Viking cruises aren’t for all - the relative age and options on board are geared for adults and actually older adults seem to have found a place here. This is not a kids’ trip. We had a group of 30 friends traveling together and the ship was extremely accommodating - even turning one of the lounges over to us for two hours for a private party on Halloween. If you’ve taken a Viking River cruise, the seaward experience is quite comparable. Well planned, on time, and promising the opportunity for education as well as a new experience in each port. This was our first Viking sea trip, but we will have others!
