We a seasoned cruisers haven traveled on many different cruise lines many of which are associated with Princess Cruises.
Having made many enjoyable trips prior on other well known cruise lines we decided to try Princess cruises.
My wife and i were excited to be joining friends on board for an end of year cruise some of whom have had many enjoyable trip with Princess lines.
As always we booked a balcony suite with upgrades and looked forward to the big day, on the day no priority check in, just all 3000 passengers corralled in like animals at the same time for check in. Then it was a fight to board everyone pushing for position on the gang ways. My wife was in a wheel chair and had the misfortune of meeting 3 different strangers falling onto her lap as we made or way onto the ship due to the pushing and shoving.
Finally got to our room which was lovely, pre- arranged drinks nibbles and flowers in our room great(flowers lasted 2 days before wilting away). The shower was supposed to have a disability stool in it no stool and none available, The bedding had small tears in the cover and bottom sheet that was only viable when un-tucked (see photos).
The usual friendly smiling staff were few and far between, almost no waiters in the bars or theaters to wait on you,Daily entertainment was non existent even no bingo until the finial day which seemed a last resort attempt, buffet food was average they ran out of bacon twice in 2 days. Restaurant food and services was rushed and mass produced, a lot of the food was not hot and very bland, they were very quick to charge us for drinks but very slow in the drinks coming having on several occasions to ask where were our drinks i can only report for the first day and a half because i contracted food poisoning on day 2 from food at the buffet lunch and was quarantined to my room for rest of voyage, the only good thing was they had a great selection of movies to watch on TV.We were told because of my condition we would have to wait until all passengers had left the ship Ah no they came and got and seated us with the rest of the passengers departing all together, after 3 attempts trying to explain to the persons in charge of disembarking i contacted medical services who tore a strip of the person in charge, but didn't make any difference we still got of with remaining passengers. We have voiced our concerns with Princess Cruisers and have been told it could take a month to respond. We have 2 more cruises booked this year with the same company ,i dont think we will be sailing with them.
