Chose this cruise as we wanted a New Year getaway and have done the same trip on Legend and enjoyed it.
Elaboration and disembarkation were fat, professionally and seamless.
Cabin was fine. We only slept there so we didn't need anything fancy.
A lot of the same stuff as Legend. Lidocaine deck, Serenity Pool, Red Frog Pub, etc.
Food seemed to be just a little poorer than last time but within an acceptable range. The hamburgers were packed with salt to the point of being inedible. The pizza shop is fantastic and open 24/7.
Service was also lower than on the Legend. There are some great staff and our waiter in the restaurant, Roy, was great. Nevertheless, a number were quite curt and they rarely gave way to customers when moving through crowds.
Reported a spill I'd seen to one of the bar staff and was courtly told that, "Yes, I'll be there soon!". On another occasion I reported that a toilet needed attending to. An hour later it had still not been serviced.
The big issue is that if you travel on Splendor, you'll want to like crowds and be prepared to line up a lot.
There were over 3,800 passengers on our cruise and the Serenity Pool area was packed, with many passengers missing out on seats and laying down on the floor.
This was exacerbated by the staff not policing the area for chairs which had been 'on gold's for extended periods.
With very few pods, the early morning race to get a seat got earlier every day, finally getting to 4:30am!!
Needless to say, this finally led to a couple of aggressive arguments and security being called.
Lido was, likewise, constantly packed with people.
Hygiene and crankiness were good and toilets were always clean and tidy wherever I went.
We spent less than half onboard this time, which was a result of the entertainment just not clicking for us.
Most of the shots were a bit too 'easy listening' for our taste, whilst Music Manila, which we enjoyed last time, having gone for more rock, having lost their female singer.
Cruise Director did a great job.
Would do Carnival again but not Splendor.
A cabin is a place to sleep.
It was simple and clean and functioned fine.
No presidential suite but we weren't there for the room.
It is basic but fine.
You really do only see a few things and they fill in time with morning tea and unnecessarily long stops.
Would have been great to have seen more of the island.
Hostess and driver were nice.View All undefined undefined Reviews
Nice but if they want cruises to keep coming they need tp clean it up.
Wanted to book a tour to see the turtles but we were there on New Years Day so the tour did not operate. Seriously!!
It takes a nice photo but that is it.
In fairness, people who took the shuttle to the beach said it was great but we didn't as a number of people including staff had said it was not worth it.
Apparently the beach and snorkeling were good.
