We had never cruised because the thought of a floating city with 1000s of people sounded like a nightmare. We liked the idea of a smaller ship and the longer times on shore really appealed to us. We also liked the ports of call.
We were pleased beyond our wildest expectations! From our cabin steward to the captain, including the hotel director, Cruise director and Assistant cruise director, the singer/dancers, the amazing gentlemen who ensured we always had a cappuccino or coke zero in hand, every single person greeted us with big smiles, kind words and excellent service. The food was heavenly. I dont metabolize sugar well, so I was thrilled to find no sugar added treats at every meal. Cheesecake. Cookies. Cream-filled pastries. Fruit-topped custards. And, of course, gelato.
We originally thought we would skip the onboard entertainment. I'm so glad we didn't! The music and dancing were lively and very well done. The entertainers seemed to love what they were doing.
The cello concert in Old Dubrovnik was complementary. It was beautiful. Very well organized, as well, considering our ship was using a public town square cordoned off for our entertainment.
We loved the White Night Party. The hotel director and food/beverage director were making crepes while dancing to the live music. The energy and fun were contagious.A huge MSC ship was moored next to us and many passengers were watching our party. I will never forget our Italian captain announcing, " We have made jealous the ship next door"!
Bottom line: we are going on a 2nd Azamara cruise 9 months after our 1st. As our daughter said, we have become "people who cruise."
We had lots of storage space and a great view. It was small, but we expected that.
Glad we took: magnetic hooks, multi-outlet phone/tablet charger, magnets for shower curtain, several sizes zip-loc bags
Didn't use: hanging pocket shoe holder, white board, travel coffee cup
Taking next time: narrow reusable plastic containers (refrigerator is not deep, zip-loc bags don't hold extra pastries well), a good extension cord for my CPAP
We arrived 5 days prior to embarkation to meet family for vacation. Having been to Venice before we chose to do our own thing.
Our guide was great. We enjoyed our time in Piran. We went a long way into the countryside to taste local food and wine. The wine drinkers on the tour loved it. Us? Meh.View All undefined undefined Reviews
Korcula is easily walkable. We enjoyed strolling past the old towers and seeing where they claim Marco Polo was born.
Our guide took us to great photo op spots in 2.5 hours. We then went to Old Town on our own.View All undefined undefined Reviews
The main gate to the old town was within view of where the ship was docked. Unfortunately the small area was inundated with tour groups, making it difficult to get through the narrow alleyways. I wish I could go back when it is not so busy.
95% of the tour was wonderful. However, eating room temperature food, with no idea of the ingredients, while surrounded by hundreds of yellow jackets was not at all fun. Especially since I am allergic to yellow jackets.View All 54 Panoramic Corfu Reviews
