Background information:
We booked our cruise vacation at the very last minute on the 6th of December, less than 3 weeks before the sail date of 12/22/2019. I have traveled with Royal Carribean (Bahamas - December 2012) and Princess Cruises (Alaska - June 2018) and would have preferred to cruise with Princess since I was thoroughly impressed with them - great quality for a great price from Costco Travel, but they were all sold out so I decided to give NCL a try after my travel agent gave a good report. I knew I was taking a gamble by trying out a new cruise line and that too on a fairly long itinerary (7-nights), but did not have much of a choice given how late we finalized our vacation plans.
Itinerary:
For a family of 4 - kids ages 17 and 13, a state room at 142 square feet was a bit cramped for a 7-night cruise. The bigger issue was that our state room was an inside state room with no windows. Not recommended for someone that gets claustrophobic very easily. The first night was very trying for me as I had to go for a walk and then recited some prayers to help calm my nerves and anxiety to sleep inside a box.
Once I overcame the claustrophobia, I was able to enjoy the decor and the appointments, wood color and all were very good. I loved the hot water coming out of the shower faucet regardless of the time of the day. I took showers late at night past midnight / early in the morning as early at 3:30 am and was able to enjoy a very nice relaxing shower. Full marks for getting that right. Good size bathroom, getting in and out was very easy / convenient.
Beautiful island, lots of cool activities and affordable. Great weather, beach volleyball very enjoyable.
