We are frequent cruisers; typically, with several generations of family members. This time, though, we wanted a cruise for just the two of us. What better time than Thanksgiving week (no juggling grocery lists, no cooking, no cleaning up...)?

This was our first foray aboard the Breakaway and the first time via the new Port Canaveral cruise terminal.

Opting for low stress, we used AA miles for first class seats to/from DFW/MCO, followed by GoPortCanaveral airport pickup, transport to the Marriott Lakeside just off the Orlando airport complex, pickup the next morning and transport to the cruise terminal at Port Canaveral. Very easy. The night clerk at the Marriott was forgettable, but the morning guy was AWESOME. I'd revisit this hotel just to see him again!

Cabin Review

The Haven Deluxe Owner's Suite with Large Balcony

Beautiful, spacious, well appointed. The wrap-around balcony is huge. As you would expect at the front of the ship, the balcony is usable only when not underway. The movable wall between the DOS and OS allows sound to travel between the cabins. Hope for happy, quiet neighbors or bring enough people with you to take both cabins and remove the wall!

Port Reviews

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Great port for shopping. Highly recommend Old Havana Cigars which is a block off the beaten path.
