Mom and I left on Mothers Day celebrating our Anniversary as Mother & Daughter. We utilized the wheelchairs NCL provided and had no problems at embarkation. We were taken directly to the Venetian restaurant for the first of many delicious meals to come. At lunch we met with one other couple from Cruise Critic. The wait staff had no problem giving us a table for 8, as we did not know how many people would be joining us for this lunch. After lunch our rooms were ready. We received additional assistance to the elevator with our carry- on- bag from a greeter. Our room stewards were immediately there to help us with our special needs in our cabin. They would be there to provide excellent service for the next 7 days. They always called us by name and greeted us in the hallway. The Group coordinator for the Cruise Critic meet & greet did a wonderful job. Refreshments were served and we all felt welcome. She went out of her way to provide individual attention and meet everyone's needs. The Captain and many Officers that showed up were very informative and answered all our questions. I recommend joining in on the Roll Call boards and taking the time to go to the meet & greet on your ship. So begins a week of being pampered and treated like royalty. Everywhere we went the staff was friendly. They went out of their way to be helpful and the service was always impeccable. We ate in the Venetian , Aqua and in Le Bistro (one night)and found all the food delicious and the selection exceptional. They had no problem giving me the arugula salad with all my lunches even though it was listed only with the Chicken Milanese. At Breakfast they had no problem bringing 3 different juices and a glass for mixing. We had no problem getting extra sauces or no sauce or extra meals to go.Every little request was treated with an attitude of, "We are glad to help"! The Maitre`D of the Aqua restaurant went out of his way in every way and made dinning on the Dawn exquisite. We were also lucky and got picked to dine with the Captain at the "table hosting event" dinner. He was charming, friendly and gracious with all our comments, questions and photo requests. It was a delightful evening. We also booked the anniversary package pre- cruise and enjoyed the chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, canapes, cake & champagne party, dinner & wine in Le Bistro and photo for $79.00...It was amusing being mother & daughter at the cake & champagne party with the other guests who were all celebrating their Honeymoon. The Group coordinator made it a welcome event for us all and we had a great time. The ship itself is beautiful, clean easy to get around. When at the ELEVATORS we would just look at the photo on the wall behind us..."flowers" meant the elevators at the front of the ship, "Marilyn Monroe" meant the elevators in the middle of the ship and "the sunset" meant the back of the ship. ENTERTAINMENT:The shows on the ship were very good and there were always seats available at the 9:30 show in the center of the theater as people seem to prefer the aisles. The art auctions were lot`s of fun even if you did not buy art.The fitness room staff was excellent and I enjoyed the free classes available.Getting on and off the ship in Bermuda was no problem and we never waited on line for long. Our weather in Bermuda was perfect and I prefer it over the heat in July.We bought the 2 day transportation pass and took the ferry & buses most places but did have to utilize available cabs when hills were involved. The ferries got a bit crazy towards the evening with only 2 remaining boat times left but there was always room on the ferries for all the waiting passengers. Disembarking was drawn out as we waited a long time for our 2nd to last color to be called... then we waited for a wheelchair.NCL definitely needs to rent more wheelchairs for when they have lot`s of people requesting them to disembark and they need to put more staff on their transport team. On the up side we had NO problem finding our luggage and No lines going through customs. Things I would recommend: bring yor own wine on board and pay the $15 corking fee... they will bring it from restaurant to restaurant for you. Bring large bottles, it is the same price for small bottles. We also brought a sealed case of water and just put a luggage tag on it.Put your sea bands on if you think you may feel sick ...before you get on the ship....they do help.Be courteous to everyone....most people will be courteous back and those who are not need to see how it is done.
The cabin was very adequate for all our belongings and we heavily over packed. I recommend bringing an over the door (clear pocket) shoe organizer for those with lot`s of toiletries. Put it over the bathroom door and you will easily find all your lotions & potions at your fingertips. Our luggage fit under the one bed.We requested egg crate mattresses on our beds and extra pillows pre-cruise.We found this cabin location very convenient to the elevator and we liked being mid ship. We had no noise issues.
