Well, we have been back 5 days and I miss the fantastic Equinox and its crew. We started in Rome where we spent one night prior to going to the port. The ride to the port took about an hour and cost $140 euros through rome cabs. They were very dependable as we used them to take us from the airport to the hotel in Rome and then to the port and back to the airport on the 14th of May. It was so easy getting on the ship. We literally walked right on at 12:30 and thought we would have to wait a couple of hours for our cabin to be ready but it was ready right away. My husband, daughter and I shared a cabin. The cabin was standard size with a nice balcony. The bathroom was great and we loved the shower. The only shortcoming of the cabin was the fact that the shelves were above the bed and we had to stand on the bed to get to them. We had plenty of closet room and found places to put all of our clothes. The other drawback was that the cabin got warm at night. Not sure why because it was comfortable during the day. The a/c on the ship was inconsistent in places but that was the only negative thing.

We loved the food in the dining room and ate at the late seating. We only ate at one specialty restaurant, Silk Harvest. The food was amazing and plentiful. They served us family style and we got to sample lots of Asian delights. We ate breakfast and lunch at the buffet. We loved the fruit and salad bar. Everyday at sea we ate sushi at 5:30 in the buffet area. Enjoyed a cappuccino daily but be prepared to pay extra for it and the gellato too. It was easy to find lounges by the pool although I never went in. My husband went swimming but my daughter and I kept busy with bingo, watching glass blowing, dance lessons, playing board games, boccie ball and ping pong. Oh yes we loved the exercise classes and did the boot camp, pilates and spinning classes. It helped ward off the extra calories. The crew were friendly and went out of their way to say hello. The cruise director was funny and the assistant activities director, Ian was a comedian himself. Our waiters were friendly, warm and did anything possible to make our vacation the best. They anticipated our needs before we did. The assistant cabin steward was a sweetheart always saying hello and smiling. He left chocolate for us nightly and he became one of our best friends. We love chocolate.

Getting off the ship Friday was very easy as well. We were in the first group to leave and we walked right off. I loved the Celebrity Equinox and will definitely travel on one of their ships again.

Cabin Review

Our cabin 9171 was in a great location. The only drawback was it got hot at night and we sometimes opened the door to the balcony. Loved the bathroom. Not much storage space but we made do. My daughter slept on the sofa bed and we asked for two mattresses because one was very thin and it was not comfortable. Never heard any noise from surrounding cabins.
