The ports of call were tourist traps. Belize was NOT a good port, as it was a small area of shops and a pool built for NCL to dump off the passengers. It is not anywhere near the "real" Belize. Each port was the same, a tourist trap. Cozumel would have been a good port, but it was scratched due to high winds. The food was not good enough for everyone that I talked to. Everybody was complaining about the poor choices and poor quality of the food. The embarkation and debarkation in Tampa was not organized. NCL is short handed. Also, this ship seemed to be a training ship as several of the crew were "learning" about being a crew member on this ship. The attitude of many of the crew was not friendly, as if they were just passing time, and could not care less about the passengers, such as in the O'Sheehan restaurant and in the other reastaurants, as the greeters are working solo when there should be at least two more people at each restaurant in order to seat the passengers. This is a bare bones type of cruise as everything is a la carte. If you want to connect to the NCL cellphone service for ONLY on the ship, passenger to passenger, they charge $10 per cellphone to connect. The payout at the bingo is rediculous. They are paying out less than 20% of the amount collected for bingos. On the last day of bingo, there were several hundred passengers playing, and the 3 bingo winners got a total of approximately $1500, when they charged an amount in excess of at least $9000 to play, as we calculated. The Casino did not pay out at all. Everyone was complaining about that. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, DO NOT BOOK THE DAWN, as you will be disappointed if you are a seasoned cruiser.
