We have cruised on many ocean cruises with other cruise lines. Having done River Cruises with Viking we decided to try their ocean cruises. We had been to all the countries on the Middle Ages Route except Portugal and Spain. The price of the cruise was good, the itinerary was interesting and included several ports we had never been into, love Viking services, so seemed a good fit. It was excellent just as Viking always is. Luxury cruising for people our age who are interested in learning more about history, art, and culture. No children, 18 years or above to sail on Viking. No loud music, casinos, or people trying to sale you something. Just a peaceful, classic environment of people our age and like interests. Every night there was classical music performers in the common areas. The bars were wonderful and my husband attended a gin tasting which was very impressive. We did not attend a lot of after dinner shows but the ones we attended were very good not your run of the mill like on most cruise lines.
All furniture and interior decor on the ship are Scandinavian in style. Clean, simple but classical style. Very accommodating but the bathroom was impressive. All stone tile with heated floors. Most showers on cruise ships are tiny and fiber glass but this was more the size of a regular shower and stone tile. Also, a lot of storage space for a two week cruise. Your own personal Nepresso Coffee maker with pods and a refrigerator with snacks, soft drinks, water, beer, wine that is replenish at no charge.
