I chose Meriviglia as my third sailing of an MSC ship from Miami. Having sailed on Seaside, Divina and enjoyed them both, it was natural to want to experience their newest addition to the US market. We took advantage of a great promotion and sailed over Thanksgiving week, which we usually do. All in all it was a good cruise. above average; yes. but not my favorite cruise line....YET!
Embarkation was a breeze. No waiting. We checked in, and were onboard within minutes.
This ship is very beautiful and very big. For me, maybe a little too big but I was able to easily navigate after a few days!.. MSC is known for their beautiful, elegant ships and this one did not disappoint. Jaw dropping photo ops everywhere. The Promenade is really nice and the LED ceiling shows were really amazing and enjoyable, changing all of the time.. On one hand, this promenade great for shopping and people watching and gatherings. On the other hand it is great or people watching shopping and gaterings! I cruise so I can be at sea and SEE the ocean and feel the breeze and so on. Many of these new MEGA ships are over utilizing their promenade stye shopping malls (in my opinion) and you loose the "being at sea feel." "That being said, yes; I was at every party and spent my share of time perusing the wonderful shops anyway. This will be particularly handy if the weather is not ideal or you just need a change of pace. Just don't get stuck there. The LIDO deck also has lots to offer.
The cabin was great. A little tight on drawer space and tight access for the closet but the balcony was HUGE and the bathroom had a tub. The TV selection is horrible and there are no free movies or events replaying on any of the many MSC channels. Would be nice to see some events that we may have missed.
Nice time walking around the area. Nice pool/beachy areas. Free. Safe. Fun
Long tender ride to get there, due to the reef.
Nice shopping. Just walked around
nothing at the port area. Didn't feel safe leaving the area on our own.
great shopping and local food. easy on and off ship at the International pier.
