While most would describe our stateroom as small, mom and I thought it was adequately sized for our needs. The beds were relatively comfortable and the pillows were OK. Our cabin stewards, Michael and Medard, were friendly and efficient. The towel animals they left us in the evenings were sweetly amusing. The food aboard the Dawn was always flavorful but the lack of variety in the main dining rooms (Venetian & Aqua) was a little disappointing. The Garden Cafe was delightful. We had dinner one night at Le Bistro, the French 'specialty' restaurant. It was worth the $20 per person cover charge! Entertainment on board the Dawn was varied. We caught the Frank Sinatra tribute and a Big Band show, both featuring Bernie Martini. The second show also featured Dave Heenan. Both gentlemen were top notch performers. Bernie Martini was also featured in Gatsby's Lounge most evenings. He's an excellent pianist and has an amazing singing voice. He was a hit with everyone from the seniors to the sweet little girl who danced around the lounge (with mom & dad watching) every time Bernie performed. All in all, our first cruise experience was great. We're looking forward to planning our next one.
