My husband and I sailed on the first 7-day cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. We have previously sailed on 4 other Princess ships as well as several Royal Caribbean Oasis Class ships and the Disney Fantasy.
Upon embarkation, the Sky Princess was stunning. Staff at the terminal and at the gangway were welcoming and set the mood for a great experience. We had booked a balcony cabin but had been notified a few weeks prior that we had been upgraded to a mini-suite. Our mini-suite was spacious with plenty of storage space for unpacking 2 suitcases. The bathroom had a tub as well as a shower and we appreciated this feature. The mini-suite featured 2 televisions but we never used the one in the sitting area as we preferred the outside view when we were in that part of our room.
We dined at only 1 specialty location...the Crown Grill steak house. The food and service was very good. We also dined at Alfredo's on deck 7 for great pizza and pasta at lunch and enjoyed the British pub lunch served on deck 7 on the first sea day. Other than that we mostly ate in the main dining room...sometimes just the 2 of us and sometimes sharing a table with other shipmates. All of the staff were attentive and so friendly as you would expect since the staff for this new ship had been specifically selected to launch this ship in style. We were especially impressed with the measures taken to accommodate guests with food allergies. We witnessed this first hand when we dined with a group which included a woman who had a gluten intolerance.
