Wanted a trip with the parents. Had to leave on a Sunday. Got a good price on this cruise. So off we went.
Flew into MIA the day before, and spent the night at the Hampton Inn Airport South, Blue Lagoon. Metro shuttle eventually arrived to take us to Port Everglades the next morning.
Got to the pier around 12 and pretty much walked right on. Never got the day's schedule at check in like we were supposed to. Had to go to the purser's desk to get it.
Cabin was ready so we dropped off our carry ons and went to the dining room for lunch. Limited selection, not tasty, and slow service. A trend that would haunt the rest of the cruise.
For the most part the food was average at best, and the service (while friendly) was slow. However, there were some very good dishes.
One major complaint was the lack of food between 9 and 10. It would be nice to have food at the Grand Dutch Cafe until it closes, or to have one side of the lido open until they change over to the late night offerings.
Tamarind was very good as well.
Entertainment, of the stage show variety, is lacking. Two dance productions, with only six dancers and prerecorded music, a magician, and a comedian. The first dance show made great use of the features of the world stage and was enjoyable. The second one was a sleeper. The magician was pretty bad. The comedian made us laugh, but required the help of audience members.
The Greenhouse was OK, We felt that Princess' version was much superior.
We took a bike tour on Half Moon Cay. While it was fun, the equipment needs to be replaced.
We took private tours at Falmouth and Cozumel. At Falmouth we took the food tour with Jamaica Culinary Tours. At Cozumel with took a food tour with Cozumel Chef. Both were excellent - highly recommended.
Just walked around Georgetown and brought rum cake.
Disembarkation was a breeze. It was actually running 45 minutes ahead of schedule.
Metro shuttle kind of was a mess on the way back. There was a lot of miscommunication on where to meet. Maybe because we didn't dock at our original pier.
Best shower on a cruise ever. Good size, no curtain, great water pressure.
OK beds, a little hard for my taste.
Uncomfortable love seat.
Balcony had 2 chairs with foot stools, and a small round table.
More than enough storage for 2 for the week.
Pretty convenient location.
Rode around on poorly maintained bikes with poorly maintained helmets.View All undefined undefined Reviews
Jamaica Culinary Tours did an excellent job! Good information and food. Was stuffed at the end.View All undefined undefined Reviews
Just walked around and brought rum cake. Very clean. All cars stopped at crosswalks. Only negative person was the security guard/policeman who didn't want to answer a simple question.
Cozumel Chef went above the call of duty. I didn't check the schedules properly before booking. The night before the tour I realized that the tour started at the time we were due to dock. Emailed them, and they had no problem delaying our tour for 1 hour. The guide worked hard to make sure we got everything he wanted us to sample. Excellent food and plenty of it.View All undefined undefined Reviews
