The cruise was a complete scam. For $3400, my cruise partner and I were informed that food and premium beverage was included. When I got on the boat, I realized this is a smoke show by Norwegian. EVERYONE I spoke with had the same frustration. Nearly 80% of restaurants are NOT free. There is an up-charge for everything, and if you do not want to pay, don't worry... Norwegian will leave voicemails on your room phone asking you to buy more crap.
The pool chairs are non-existant and impossible to get if you are not out there reserving them by 6am. NCL does not enforce the "15 minute rule" for pool towels to reserve seats. I literally saw a brawl between two guests over pool seats. The mood is tense on the pool deck - so if you are interested in enjoying the sundeck with a drink, this is not the cruise for you.
You need to reserve EVERYTHING before you get on the boat. When I called the cruise in advance to make restaurant or show reservations, I was told NCL only released 20% of available reservations and would release the remaining 80% once you board the ship. Once I boarded the ship (early, might I add), there were NO reservations available for any premium dining or shows. The only way to enjoy anything was to walk-in or wait in line, like everything else on the boat. Even comedy shows or free entertainment was booked and out of the question.
The cabin was a nice size. The bed is really squeaky, so whenever you rock back and forth, you will be up all night with a nice loud squeak. I asked maintenance to fix, and was told it was not possible.
San Juan is nice for night life, but we only docked there from 5:30pm - 11:30pm. The umbrellas in Old San Juan were no longer up and you could see noticeable hurricane damage.
