We returned about a week ago from seaside. We had done one other msc cruise about 15 years ago on a very old and small ship the Melody. This ship was very interesting and a great value for your money.
Embarkation was not totally smooth we got to ship about 11 am and was taken to a waiting area for yacht club , there was wine and snacks in area . They started calling people in groups and about 90 mins later we finally boarded. Our cabin was nice not extremely large about 250 sq ft with a balcony we never used, bathroom was very nice with large walk in shower. .YC cabins come with lots of perks , one is mini fridge with lots of snacks soda and some liquor then is replenish daily at no cost.
We were on deck 16 YC is split up to 3 separate decks in front of the ship 16, 18 and 19 , for some reason there is no deck 17. Deck 16 has a very nice large lounge and bar , it also has a outside area with chairs and lounges , part of that they allow smoking. Also on lounge was a piano and we had live music from about 5 to 11pm , there was a very good piano player that rotated every hour or so with a classical duo one played piano other violin and sometimes a guitar player. Bar was well stocked and service from wait staff and bartenders was excellent. YC includes a drink package that includes all drinks 12 and less which is 98 percent of what is offered, this package is good for all the bars and restaurants on the ship. However we wanted some better wine and high end scotch like Johnny Walker blue, so for 17 dollars a day extra you get a drink package that includes everything served by the glass. Again including really good scotch cognac.
Nice cabin , not as large as most other lines suites, very nice bathroom.
