We went on this cruise because it was a good value. 29 days with prepaid gratuities and $1000 onboard credit in a balcony for around $4000 each. It sailed from Barcelona to Los Angeles (home) through the Panama Canal (our first time). The ship was refurbished in April. We had not been on this ship before but some people said it was all new inside. The crew was great. Very friendly and they did their jobs well. The food was good in all the venues except Share. We have eaten there on two different ships and been unimpressed both times. Unfortunately, the Crown Grill was just OK. Which is not good if you’re paying $29 each for it.
Entertainment was good. The onboard troupe was excellent. Some of the other acts were just OK, but most were very enjoyable. In 29 days we saw quite a variety. The Cruise Director’s staff was excellent. Very entertaining. There was plenty to do onboard.
The ship has ‘Medallion Net’ Wi-Fi now. A few days it did not work well, or at all. They gave various reasons for the problems. In the end they refunded 30% of the cost.
Our cabin was on Lido Deck 15 forward. It was a standard balcony cabin. It had a large TV with plenty of on demand content. A few days it did not work properly. Our room steward, Manuel, was quick and efficient. We found some broken glass on our balcony. Apparently the glass under the had broken on a previous cruise and they did not get it cleaned up well. I took the pieces to Guest Services. They gave us a free dinner at a specialty restaurant. I didn’t like the pillows. They were too flat. Check out our video at YouTube.com/portmonkeys
