While we were fortunate in getting a very good price for our cruise, as prior Holland America cruisers, and frequenters of the casino, this cruise was a let down. It started with checking in. They did not have out cabin keys, for some reason and we stood around for a half hour waiting for them to be printed. A staff person tried to make up for it by letting us board with first group. Food was mediocre at best, ship furnishings outdated, only a handful of staff up to their usual warm and helpful standards. Casino was tiny and there was only 1 dealer who had any personality. Also, they didn't provide easy bar service. Loss of money on their part, as a result. There was only one blackjack table open most of the time. limited slot machines - no Wheel of Fortune! Our cabin stewards were good. Dining room waiters were overall mediocre - not attentive. One of the maitre de's - Adi - is a gem!! very helpful and went above and beyond to help me our first day on ship.
difficult to get clothes out of the closets; bathtub where drain didn't drain properly, tv on shelf so high up you had to lift your hand up high to use gizmo to turn it on, change channels, etc. YUCK!
