We selected this cruise because we got a great last-minute deal. Embarkation went extremely smoothly and quickly. Disembarkation was even faster. Customs was on the ship and released us as soon as our photos matched. The entire crew was friendly and helpful. Our sailing was five nights long. The entertainment in the Stardust Theater was good. The ship's performers were very talented and put on a great show. They put a lot of work into their performance. We had an off-ship comedian a couple of nights. Her first couple of performances she had trouble engaging the audience, but apparently, she had everyone engaged at her last performance, which was an adult performance. The evening game shows in the Bliss Lounge were hokey but drew a crowd. There were very few activities during the day and the bulk of the activities were for a fee. Deck 6 has a great walking track. The ship's lifeboats were used to tender in Cozumel. Getting into the port went smoothly and quickly. Early morning departures were expected to get a pass, but no one checked the pass as we boarded the tenders. In Costa Maya, we were at the pier next to another NCL ship. We were unable to sit on our balcony there as the other NCL ship was playing music on the pier at eardrum breaking volume. The complimentary dining rooms were hit and miss with their meals. Most of the meats were overcooked and on the dry side. The fish and chips should be avoided. Three of us ordered red snapper one evening and none of us could eat it. That was the first time that we have experienced a meal we could not eat on any of the many cruises we've taken. The shrimp burger on the pretzel roll is very good, the shrimp salad is also good. The bluefin fish is excellent, although a small portion. We have never been compelled to seek a better evening meal at the buffet until this cruise. Please note, we received good service in the dining room, it was just the food that was hit and miss. We ate at two of the specialty restaurants. Moderno had an excellent salad bar, but the meats were all overcooked. The rotisserie pineapple between the entree and dessert was very good. Le Bistro required that you dress up. The NCL website indicates that you can have bouillabaisse, which has not been offered for two years. Our meal started off with stale bread and when we pointed this out we were not offered fresh bread. We were tempted to go down a floor to the Garden Cafe to get some good bread. The mussels appetizer was excellent, as was the shrimp entree. The scallop appetizer has very small scallops and no flavor. The scallop entree was rubbery and improperly prepared. The soul was overcooked as was the steak. Even with an excellent price, we would think twice about taking this cruise again due to the hit and miss food.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony
Cabin BA
The cabin is spacious with a king-size bed and a large couch that makes out into a king-size bed. The storage was abundant with shelves and drawers. The bathroom has three shelves on either side of the mirror. It would have been nice to have a shelf under the sink as well, but there was plenty of space for the necessities. The shower was small and likely would be difficult to use for large people. It had a shower curtain.

For light sleepers, this is not a good cabin. Any music by the pool is easily heard even with the door closed. You can feel the bass tones in the cabin. The music often plays loud until 10:00 or later. Then between 6:00 and 7:00 in the morning, the crew starts setting up the pool deck above and you can hear the movement of all the equipment.
